I re-evaluated my relationships and made changes where necessary to reduce stress. I knew there was no product, diet, or lifestyle that could overcome the damage stress was causing, so managing my stress was the first crucial step. Read here about a previous blog we wrote on optimizing hair growth.
Next, I knew my body needed support, so I cleaned up my diet. I cut out sugar, ate tons of greens and vegetables, berries, and drank plenty of water. I also eliminated sugar and focused on bitter greens like dandelion, chard, and arugula, which help cleanse the gut. I also started walking 3 to 4 times a week, which brought a sense of calm to my body.
Regular exercise not only alleviates stress and promotes overall well-being but is also believed to support optimal hair growth by boosting blood circulation to the scalp . Increased blood circulation may enhance nutrient delivery to hair follicles, helping them flourish.
Journaling can offer mental clarity and encourage positivity by focusing on gratitude each day . Activities like reading, enjoying the sunshine, practicing yoga, and laughing with friends contribute to stress reduction and emotional well-being . Mindfulness and meditation foster a sense of inner peace and mental clarity, essential for managing stress.
Limiting screen time, staying hydrated, consuming a balanced diet, exercising, and ensuring quality sleep are key lifestyle practices that not only bolster mental health but also support hair growth.
Removing sugar from your diet can significantly improve your health by reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. It can also lead to more stable energy levels throughout the day, as you avoid the sugar highs and crashes associated with high sugar intake.
Increasing the intake of green vegetables boosts your immune system due to their high content of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Eating more greens can aid in digestion and promote a healthy gut microbiome, thanks to their fiber content . Green vegetables are low in calories and high in nutrients, making them ideal for weight management and overall wellness.
Next, I knew it was time to step up my hair care regimen. I realized that panicking and switching products wasn’t the answer—Moisture Love wasn't the problem. I needed to address the stress and understand that my body was prioritizing survival, not hair growth. So, I took control.
